Small in size in itself, Kotohira can be explored on foot. Hotels and restaurants line the approach to the Kotohira-gu shrine, also known as Kompira-san - a premier destination for the Shinto religion. From Takamatsu , you can reach Kotohira in one hour by train, en route to Kochi or the mountainous interior using the Kotoden rails. Kotohira is a brief stop good enough for a day trip.
For a small town, there are not many sights though these places in Kotohira draw millions of people each year.
