Getting There

By train

From Tokyo or Osaka, take the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen to Fukuoka (Hakata Station) on Kyushu.

From Fukuoka (Hakata Station), there are one or two direct limited express trains to Nagasaki every hour. The one-way trip from Fukuoka to Nagasaki takes about two hours and costs about 4,700 Yen. The whole trip from Tokyo takes about eight hours and costs around 24,000 Yen.

Alternatively, there are highway buses between Fukuoka (stopping at Hakata Station and Fukuoka Airport) and Nagasaki Station every 15 minutes. The one-way journey takes about 2.5 hours and costs 2500 Yen. A round trip ticket costs 4500 Yen, but the return trip has to be done within 10 days of the outward journey.

By airplane

Located one hour outside of central Nagasaki by bus (800 Yen), Nagasaki Airport is connected with Tokyo's Haneda Airport, Osaka's Itami Airport and a few other airports in Japan by direct JAL and ANA flights.

The regular one-way fare from Tokyo to Nagasaki is about 34,000 Yen, however, discount tickets are usually available for around 24,000 Yen. From Osaka, one-way tickets cost around 17,000 to 22,000 Yen. Note that with a Japan Air Pass, you pay only around 12,000 Yen per domestic flight.
