Discover Yokohama

The city of Yokohama lies about 30 kilometres (18 miles) to the southwest of central Tokyo. Its population of over 3.5 million makes it the second largest city in Japan. With more than 140 years of service as an international port, Yokohama has become well known around the world.

Location
Yokohama is located within the Tokyo metropolitan area, which is the centre for business, culture, arts, and tourist activities. From the heart of Tokyo, it will only take 25 minutes to get to Yokohama by road.

Growing Tourist Industry
The increase in the number of people visiting Yokohama from other areas in Japan and from abroad adds to the city's vitality. To cater to these visitors, Yokohama must have an attractiveness and vitality that other cities do not possess.

For this reason, Yokohama is taking steps such as preserving the buildings, townscape, and culture that have played integral parts in its history as a port. Moreover, Yokohama is creating a commercial space that will bring together commercial, business, amusement, community and other functions, and has constructed art and cultural facilities.

Yokohama is an exciting tourist city, as well as a business city.
