Judo – Principle of gentleness or gentle way (“Ju” means “Gentle”, while “do” means “Concept of life”.)

Judo-gi – The suit used in Judo consisted of cotton trousers, a loose jacket, and a cloth belt.

Dojo – Training or practice facility of Japanese martial arts.

Obi – Colored belts used to determine Judo rankings.

Mudansha – Judokas who do not have a Dan or Black Belt ranking

Yudansha – Judokas who do have a Dan or Black Belt ranking
