Discover Karate

Karate is a martial arts technique that originated in Okinawa and emphasizes on punching, kicking and other striking techniques. The word Karate means ‘empty hand’ and adding a suffix ‘do’, which means way or path, would imply that karatedo is not just the study of techniques and movements in fighting but it is also a channel to self-knowledge.

Karate training is divided into three major areas, kihon, kata and kumite.  Kihon is a training that focuses on the fundamental moves and the basic components of karate. Kata is a study of a series of movements or techniques that are linked together and used to perform imaginary sparring while kumite is actual sparring against a real opponent.
