Japanese Furniture Styles

The Zen idea of simplicity has greatly influenced Japanese interior decoration. The Japanese furniture was made to blend with the natural settings and to be in harmony with nature, creating a sense of ease and relaxation. To create a quality of relaxation and beauty, minimal use of materials are combined with soft and natural colors, and hand made rice papers.

Japanese furniture is simple and minimalist. Moveable screen and sliding panels are used to make the boundaries flexible. Form follows function in Japanese furniture. It is linear and straightforward. Unnecessary decorations are avoided giving the furniture simplicity, durability, balance, and integrity.
