Exotic Pets
The increasing number of pet-unfriendly establishments has led
the Japanese to taking care of smaller, less mobile animals such
as birds, tropical fish, and reptiles – animals that are
easy to maintain, quiet and can stay within the confines of a
small cage or a terrarium.
In an effort to control and monitor the number of exotic pets
in Japan, the Environment of Ministry is planning to draw up
a law that would require the implantation of microchips under
the skin of over 600 animal species, including snapping turtles
and bears.
