The language background
There are several ways to get to know the Japanese
language. If one is looking for a formal education, Japanese
language schools are the best way to go. If you are not looking
to be so formally educated and just want to know more about
the language to speak comfortably, Japanese volunteer groups
would be your best bet. Japanese language schools charge tuition
for their lessons, while most Japanese volunteer groups either
charge a small fee, either for the place or for the materials
used. Before you go looking, though, it would be wise to establish
your objectives in learning the Japanese language; that way
it would be easier for you to consider the different language
schools and volunteer groups in your area of residence or work.
Here
are some examples for Japanese learning schools:
- If you’re looking into getting
in higher education in Japan (i.e. college or a masters degree),
check whether the institution
takes into consideration preparation for the Japanese
Language Proficiency Test.
- If you have local friends, ask
for their recommendations on good schools and institutions
near your place of residence
or work.
- Don’t hesitate to select a lot of language
schools initially. To have a good idea of the schools, it
would be wise
to ask for information from them and then compared before you make your
final decision.
- It is necessary to have a personal
or financial guarantor if you’re just preparing to
leave for Japan. An applicant must have ample funds to study
and live
in Japan.
