Japanese language network
The Japanese Language Network is one of many
organizations and institutions put up to help foreigners orient
themselves with the Japanese language. The Japanese language
volunteers not only teach the Japanese language in classes,
they also teach about Japanese customs and traditions and daily
living.
The Japanese volunteer language classes offer
different types of courses, depending on the need of the students.
Volunteer
groups also offer activities other than lessons, like workshops
and international get-togethers.
Japanese volunteer classes
are different from Japanese language schools, though. Japanese
language schools are for those who
want to study the language efficiently. The teachers are
professional and licensed and the students study in a classroom.
The
Tokyo Nihongo Volunteer Network is also part of the Japanese
Language Network. They have around 150 groups in the Tokyo
area, ranging from a few members to members in the hundreds.
It was
established on October 6, 1993.
The Tokyo Nihongo Volunteer Network has many activities
aside from teaching Japanese language classes. They also
give lectures,
workshops, and seminars, publish the “Nihongo Volunteer
Classroom Guide”, a guide for people who want to
learn or teach Japanese close to home or work, and also
keep a counseling
desk.
The Tokyo Nihongo Volunteer Network also keeps
a Nihongo Class Guide to those who are searching for their
volunteer
groups
in any city:

their search guide has not been updated since November 1999,
