The many incarnations of Anime

Anime is not limited to DVDs, videos, and TV broadcasts that first come to mind. One of the most important things to anime fans besides anime itself is manga. Mania is a form of Japanese comic, and, much like anime, this has given many the idea that it, like Western comics, is aimed only at children.

Many anime begin as manga, just as many films begin as books. Most manga is printed in black and white. In Japan, manga are read from right to left, so during translation and reprinting in English, some are flipped, but some are left in their original right-to-left format, which is preferred by many hardcore fans.
Anime also appears in clothing, toys and various other memorabilia.
