About Japanese business etiquette

As Japan’s culture is deeply rooted from introverted ways dating back to ancient times, to an outsider, this behavior makes them somewhat unreceptive.

Just as it is in other countries like US or Europe, the same rules of social behavior are observed when doing business with the Japanese. Observing politeness, good manners, graciousness and respect will make for a smooth business transaction. To the Japanese, however, some rules have to be observed like tradition.

Japan is a country known to regard hierarchy and honor to the highest value. While it is not specifically demanded from non-Japanese, it is important to know and even observe some of these practices, as this carry a great deal of importance to the business people you are dealing with.
