Unique Medical Practice

All Japanese citizens are mandated to register in a health insurance.  The patients in Japan are at liberty to consult at any medical institution of their choice, regardless of social status.  General practitioners do not exist in Japan, as opposed to most countries wherein they are common.  There are also no oncologists in Japan.  Instead, cancer is treated by a doctor specializing in an area where the malignancy is.
