Wars

The Sino-Japanese War in 1894-1895 was a result of a conflict between China and Japan over Korea. Japan won this war and made Taiwan a territory, however, the Triple Intervention, composed of Germany, France and Russia had Japan turn over other regions. As a result, Japan reinforced its militia and armaments.

The war between Russia and Japan (Russo-Japanese War) from 1904 to 1905 saw Japan winning over Russia and claiming Manchuria. In 1910, Korea was fully under the Japanese.

The Japanese fought with the Chinese again in the second Sino Japanese War in 1937. This war did not end until 1945.

Japan also occupied Vietnam (French Indochina) in 1940 as a result of its relationship with the French government. Soon after, Japan was part of the Axis powers which included Germany and Italy in waging World War II.
