Examples of "Chindogu"

Here are some examples that might not be found in every Japanese home, but still “useful”, nonetheless.

The Noodle Eater’s Hair Guard – It helps people who eat lunch on the go to protect their hairstyle. It’s a pink-molded plastic which fits into a briefcase or bag.

The Outdoor Loo Seat – It is a toilet seat that brings to the user a green atmosphere, complete with piped birds and running water. This is for those who value their time in the toilet and would like to do some meditation or thinking.

The Umbrella Tube – It is a plastic extension from the tips of an umbrella, effectively encasing the user in tube-like protection from the rain.

The Chopsticks Fan – It is a small battery-powered electric fan that can be attached to the end of chopsticks while one is eating hot noodles. It help cools the soup while eating.

The Butter Stick – This is basically butter that is placed inside a tube or a stick, much like the idea of a lipstick. One pushes out the butter by turning the stick at the bottom, which makes bread buttering a whole lot easier.

Hay Fever Hat – This is a strap-on roll of toilet paper that provides allergy sufferers with a continuous supply of tissue that’s easier to get, as compared from fishing around in bags.

The Lazy Grabber – This is a plastic extended version of your arm, which is handy when you need to grab objects that are out of your immediate reach without moving from where you are.
