Haruki Murakami

Haruki Murakami is one of the most popular authors in present day Japan . He was born in 1949 in Kobe and studied Greek Drama. Murakami has spent a large part of his life outside Japan and has many works in English. In spite of this, he has managed to maintain that distinctive Japanese touch in his work. He is also well regarded as a skillful translator of Scott Fitzgerald, John Irving, and other contemporary American authors.
Some of his work in English include Pinball, Hear the Wind Sing, and Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World. A more recent work is entitled South of the Border, West of the Sun. Murakami's books and short stories are widely available in Japan as well as in online bookstores.
