Tansu
The Tansu is a type of Japanese woodworking
that can be seen in the smallest items like cash boxes, to
large elaborate furniture. The Tansu come in a variety of colors,
from gold to deep browns, black and red. The name Tansu means
cabinetry in Japan and this form of woodworking was first used
by the elites in the early Edo Period of 1615 – 1780.
The many numerous styles of Tansu went from chests to trunks
and soon included doors and drawers merged with iron material.
