Sights to see

Of course, other than shopping, there are more exciting things you can do at Ginza.

First off is visiting the Kabuki-za Theatre just past Mitsukosh. It is a traditional Japanese structure that is both beautiful and classic. Here, daily performances of kabuki plays are held. Tickets are sold at reasonable prices. There is an English Audio guide which you can listen to while you watch.

Over at Shin Ohasi Dori Avenue, is the historic Tsukiji Honganji (Hongwanji) Buddhist Temple. It is a very impressive structure built in 1617 and restructured in 1935. Here, many services are performed with gagaku court music. Although entering the actual temple premises is sometimes prohibited, you can occasionally see traditional wedding ceremonies performed in this temple.

The Tsukiji Fish Market, is the largest fish wholesale market in Asia where one can buy all kinds of fruits, fresh fish, shellfish and other seafood. The sight and busy atmosphere of the area makes it one of Tokyo's major tourist attractions. The market is open everyday except Sundays and public holidays. But it is recommended that you visit the place before 9:00 am if you want to experience the hustle and bustle of the busty market.

There are many spacious movie theaters in the Ginza-Yurakucho area, like the Ginza Cine Pathos, a strip of theaters built in a tunnel under Harumi-dori. They show Hollywood and Japanese films here. Particulary interesting is the tiny cluster of food shops found in this area.
