Love Hotels

Love Hotels are often utilized by couples who want to have time alone with each other, although it can also be rented out to ordinary tourists for comfortable lodging. Love Hotels are easy to spot. Neon signs abound the façade if the establishment, bright pink and red color combinations and the word “hotel” prominent in the signage.

Rates are a bit different from other hotels, ryokan, and minshuku. The rooms become available only during 9 p.m. and can be rented for two hours for a lower price and an all-night stay for a much higher amount. Amenities such as heart-shaped beds, theme rooms, pornographic videos, VCR, and karaoke machines are available. Upon entering the establishment, you will see the price list starting from the minimum of two hours to an all-night stay that ends the next morning by around 10 a.m. Then, you will find a panel with all the numbered rooms. The lighted ones indicate that the room is vacant. Push the button beside the room number and pay in cash to the cashier behind the walled counter. This is to protect the privacy of the customers.
