Dining Experience
While in Japan, savor its sona or udon noodles served in bowl.
For heavier meals, add sushi (nori seaweed wrapped rice), tempura
(deep fried shrmp, ish or vegetables), or teriyaki (meats with
sweet sauce). The more adventurous will enjoy sashimi – fresh
raw beef or fish dipped in soy sauce with wasabi.
Japanese snacks are also delicious: crackers with seaweed, sticky
rice cakes or mochi, and bean ice cream or azuki.
Fast-becoming popular in Japan is the concept of food theme
parks. A food theme park focuses only on one dish or food and
a variety of restaurants offer the same dish in various versions.
Ice Cream City is one food theme park frequently visited not
only by kids but adults as well. There are about ten stores in
the Ice Cream City selling a range of ice cream flavors. It is
located within the Sunshine City dubbed as the “city within
the city”.
Another famous food theme park is the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum
which houses ramen stores and restaurants from the different
regions of Japan. This particular food theme park also has a
Ramen Museum, situated on the first floor, which presents the
history of ramen and exhibits different ramen noodles. It also
features ramen-making.
