Held for three days during the start of November, the Karatsu
Kunchi Festival features large floats known as Hikiyama that
are pulled by local people while shouting traditional chants.
Accompanying the rhythmic pulling of floats and chants are flutes
and drums. During the three-day festival an abundance of food
is laid out and drinks flow freely for friends and relatives.
