Japan's transport systems
The transportation system in Japan is modern
and effiecent, serving a population of over 100 million people
everyday. Japan is also home to the first true use of high-speed
rail travel. Called "Shinkansen" or bullet trains, these railway
vehicles can easily reach speeds in excess of 250 kilometres
per hour.
Air and sea travel are also important aspects
of the Japanese economy, providing almost all trade requirements
of the country. Japan is also the world's leader in ship-building,
specifically that of merchant ships and giant oil tankers.
